PEGGY SIVERT
Peggy Sivert, Statement
The work of Peggy Sivert begins with traditional materials (clay, wood, metal or painting on canvas). Adding to or deconstructing the form or image transforms these works. Strongly conscious of the environmental impact of consumption, Sivert chooses to work with found objects and rework existing artworks rather than starting with new materials.
Her interest in the form of the horse has been ongoing in her art as a symbol for labor, peace, strength and power. Growing up with horses as a part of her life, they have become a personal symbol of spiritual identity.
